December 2, 2022, 8pm - Fruchthalle, Fruchthallstr. 10, 67655 Kaiserslautern
This first joint concert with the USAFE Band after a 2-year break because of the pandemic was a highlight of our concert year. Together with the band, we performed It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, The Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire), Maria durch ein Dornwald ging (Choir a capella), Masters In this Hall, a medley of german Christmas carols, as well as G.F.Händel's Hallelujah.
In his review appearing on December 5 in the Rheinpfalz local newspaper, Walter Falk describes a Successful Closing of Ranks:
The Rheinland-Pfalz International Choir (RPIC) with its German and English Christmas carols did not want to lag behind. Under the direction of Eric Weddle, it too knew how to inspire with a controlled tone. With a cultivated piano, the 30 singers impressed with the a cappella piece "Maria durch ein Dornwald ging", and with wiry energy and pure pleasure sound, they sang Handel's "Hallelujah” jointly with the USAFE band. Above all, it was admirable how simple it sounded here what is so immensely difficult to perform: The closing of ranks between the highly complex melodic line and its polyphonic interconnection not only sounded clear, but also seemed absolutely natural.
